Fake Claw Nails

The trend of claw nails is popping up everywhere- from Rihanna to Lana del Rey. Unfortunately, in order to get the look, it pretty much requires fake nails. Well, I don't have money for fake nails, nor do I want to ruin my real nails, so here is a tutorial in which you can fake the claw effect. Enjoy!

Rihanna

Lana Del Rey

Base color- Sinful Colors Leap Frog
Nude colo- Sally Hansen Quick Sand
First, apply a base color. Any color you'd like- black looks really cool with this too.
Then, use tape to create a diagonal from the center of your nail to the outer edge.
Paint the area of nail a nude color.
Repeat on the other side of the nail.
And that's it! No, it does not look as fancy or out-there as using fake nails, however these nails still require a second look and without the price :)

HEALTHY(..er) RAMEN

So, I'm a college kid. I try to eat healthy on a budget, however it is pretty hard. Especially when unhealthy foods are so gosh darn yummy, cheap, and easy to prepare. Recently I've been looking up ways to make one of my staple foods (Ramen...typical college kid right?) a bit healthier.

The main problem I have with Ramen is all that sodium in the seasoning packet. But, by adding some spices and other goodies you can either completely subtract, or at least heavily reduce, the amount of seasoning packet you use.

Here is one of my concoctions:

This is super easy, and pretty inexpensive to make. Adding the vegetables also fills you up, so you feel like you're having a full meal instead of a snack (which Ramen often is for me...)

Here's what I did:

1) Put noodles, about 1 1/2-2 cups of water, pieces of kale (and/or spinach- however much is up to you- just remember when the leafy greens cook down they become smaller, so it's ok if at first your bowl looks overtaken by them!) and 3-4 chopped up baby bella mushrooms in a big ol' bowl.

2) Put in the microwave for 4 1/2 minutes. You can do this over a stove too, however the microwave requires less dishes to clean :)

3) Carefully remove the bowl. Scoop in 2-3 tablespoons of nutritional yeast flakes, which you can find at health and vitamin stores.

4) If you want, add about 1/4 of the seasoning packet from the Ramen package. You can also use liquid aminos, which would be even lower in sodium. A good addition is also italian seasoning, and cracked pepper. The possibilities are endless!

The great thing about this is that you can experiment without wasting food that you've spent a lot of money on.

Hello and posts from old blog

Hello all! So I kinda (really) fell off the wagon with my other blog, beautybandit. I have decided to make a new blog, but this will incorporate topics other than makeup and nails, like crafts and cooking. I'm really excited to get into blogging again! I still would like to keep some of my favorite posts in one place, so here are some pictures and links to posts from beautybandit. Thank you!
